A REVIEW! Not done one for ages...

Venice Treacle - ‘The Glass’ one-sided 8" lathe cut 45rpm piccy disc.

On Gardener’s Delight label.

'A cure for the winter ills!'

What a gem of a track. Pulsing, motorik, indie…

If you exercised to this, you’d be knackered after half a minute.

It’s like a sped-up Neu! ‘Hallogallo’, with a vocal that’s cool and understated, as if it can only just about be bothered at times.

Stabbing guitar and keys played with one finger (I think), though that could be an effect…

I dunno. I don’t need to. It’s absolutely hypnotic.

‘We could watch telly…’

Scratchy lashings on a guitar, and dully-bassy tom drums.

Imagine if Bloc Party covered Fujiya and Miyagi’s ‘Knickerbocker’, and were long-haired Germans. Yeah, that.. With a very light sprinkling of The Fall ground on top before baking, just to brown it up a bit.

I wish it had a b-side. I mean, it does. But I wish it had more sounds like this on it.

If anything here means anything to anybody, I strongly suggest you get a copy of this record.
